Use Ecosorb to remove foundry smells naturally.
More Than Just a Nuisance
Ecosorb® odor control products break down and eliminate the many odorous gases produced in metalcasting. Each product is formulated to chemically convert foul and harmful gases into non-odorous byproducts.
After prolonged exposure to potent gasses triethylamine (TEA) and dimethylethylamine (DMEA), workers can experience blurring of their peripheral vision (“tunnel vision”). Odors from these gasses seep into clothes and vehicles, lingering long after proximity near the gas sources. By using Ecosorb to neutralize emissions and odors, the harmful effects of the gasses can be eliminated and strong smells removed.
Benefits of Ecosorb
Ecosorb uses the natural power of plant oils to remove odors created by metalcasting.
Non-toxic, non-hazardous, biodegradable, non-flammable, and no harmful VOCs.
Proven by independent labs to reduce amine-type odors to acceptable air quality.
Formulations for all foundry types and odor sources.
Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is a common gas found in metalcasting facilities. Ecosorb reacts with sulfur dioxide to product an organic salt, removing the odor.
In laboratory testing, Ecosorb products drastically reduced sulfur-type odors to acceptable air quality. They were found to be so effective in contact testing that they reduced sulfur dioxide levels from 26 ppm/v to less than 0.01 ppm/v immediately after application. (The level of effectiveness is determined by the odor concentration, type of equipment used, and quantity of Ecosorb products dispersed.)
Lost Foam Process Odors
Molten metal is poured into foam molds, burning away the foam and creating styrene gas. By running atomized Ecosorb 206 into the exhaust stream, gas odors can be eliminated.
Dust and Odor Control in Foundries
Using Ecosorb products can remove odors in core rooms and shakeout areas as well as suppress dust throughout the foundry. Only small amounts of Ecosorb are needed.
Triethylamine and other gases can be a serious problem in core rooms and pour-off areas in non-ferrous foundries. Using Ecosorb products can solve odor problems in foundries of any size.
Pouring areas in brass foundries can be the source of high volumes of trouble odors. For exhaust stacks in those areas, Ecosorb products can be added to maintain constant odor control.
How to Use
Throughout a foundry, Ecosorb products can be applied to remove smells from triethylamine (TEA) and dimethylethylamine (DMEA). Common cold box catalysts are also controlled through Ecosorb airborne treatment. When combined with the non-toxic, organic acid buffer of Ecosorb products, these amines form organic salts that are easily removed from the atmosphere.
Ecosorb Additives also have a place in foundries. In binders, shell resin, and cold box resins, these additives have been found to remove process odors and those from pouring, cooling, and shakeout operations.
